Franklin George Zaske
Franklin George Zaske, age 86, passed away peacefully at home on August 29, 2015. He will be deeply missed by his wife of 59 years, Marjorie, and his six children: George (Ann Iacarella) Zaske, Peter (Deborah) Zaske, Jean (Robert Whitlatch), Anne Zaske, Carol (William) Cole, Sarah (Garrett McElfresh) Zaske. He is also survived by nine devoted grandchildren - Josephine, Franklin, Anissa, Leo, Chloe, Aidan, Clara, Elsa, Matilda - and sister Virginia (William) Laing. He will also be missed by his many nieces, nephews, and friends.
Frank was born on November 19, 1928 in Portage, Wisconsin to Vernard and Della Zaske. He proudly served in the United States Army as a Staff Sergeant and combat medic during the Korean War (August 22, 1950 to August 21, 1953). He married his bride Marjorie Anne Martens on August 25, 1956. After graduating from Central State Teachers' College in 1957, Frank earned a Master of Arts degree in History from the University of Wisconsin - Madison in 1961. Frank touched many lives during his career as a teacher, administrator, and guidance counselor at Green Bay East High School.
Frank retired from teaching in 1989 and enjoyed traveling with Marge and pursuing his lifelong love of spending time in nature. He was an avid outdoors-man and enjoyed fishing, hunting, and camping. An accomplished woodcarver, Frank was a member of the Wisconsin River Woodcarvers.
A memorial service is scheduled for Saturday, September 12 at 11:00 AM at Shuda Funeral Chapel in Stevens Point, WI (www.shudafuneral.com). Visitation begins at 10:00 AM.
