Susan was born to Clarence and Leona Stankowski in Waukesha, WI on November 9, 1948. She attended Catholic Memorial High School and went on to receive her undergraduate teaching degree from the University of Wisconsin – Stout in 1970. It was during this time when she met the love of her life, Henry Kostuch. They would marry on July 17, 1971 at Saint Adalbert’s Catholic Church in Rosholt, WI. Sue and Hank settled in Oconomowoc, WI where she established her career in education in the local school district. Sue furthered her education, earning an M.A. Ed in Curriculum Development from National Louis University in 1991 as well as an M.A. Ed in Leadership from Marian University in 1999. She was a positive influence on the lives of thousands of students in Oconomowoc for more than 34 years prior to retiring in 2004 when her and Hank moved to Cataula, GA near their eldest son and grandchildren.
Sue’s retirement job was selling real-estate for Keller William in Columbus, GA where she met and made many wonderful friends. She stayed busy in the local Newcomer’s and Dining In Groups along with being an active members of St. Anne’s Catholic Parish in Columbus. Sue’s greatest passion, however, was taking care of her family – always putting other’s needs first.
She is survived by her Husband, Hank, sons, Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Kostuch (Krista), Cataula, GA with granddaughters Kate Marie and Caroline, and Mr. Andrew Kostuch, Reston, VA. Sue was the oldest of 3 sisters leaving behind Linda Stanislawski (Hank), Rosholt, WI and Mary Bleyer (Brian), Stevens Point, WI.
We are thankful for all the wonderful care, compassion and inspiration Sue has received during her cancer treatment. The many doctors, nurses, therapists and friends allowed her the ability to enjoy life up the very end. In lieu of flowers, the family asks you consider a donation to the American Cancer Society or local cancer treatment facility in Sue’s name.
