August Clarence "Gus" Wanta
August “Clarence” Wanta age, 92 of Rosholt passed away Thursday
September 22, 2016 at Willow Brooke Point.
A Mass of Christian Burial for Gus, as he was known, will be held Monday
September 26 at 11:00 AM at St. Adalbert Catholic Church. The Rev. Roy
Witucki will officiate. Visitation will be held Sunday from 5:00 – 8:00
PM at the Shuda Funeral Chapel – Stevens Point and again Monday from
10:00-10:45 AM prior to the service at the church. A rosary will be
prayed on Sunday at 6:30 PM at Shuda Funeral Chapel - Stevens Point.
Gus was born on December 20, 1923 in Rosholt, the son of Leo and Katie
(Suchon) Wanta. He attended local schools then entered the United States
Marine Corps. After serving his country as a Private First Class he
was honorably discharged June 15, 1946. After serving his country during
World War II, he returned back home and worked as a dairy farmer. On May
29, 1954 Gus married Delores Check at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in
Polonia. After their marriage, he continued work as a dairy farmer until
he was 87 years old. Other than working on the farm, Gus enjoyed
fishing and going for walks.
Gus is survived by his daughter Karen (Ed) Woiak, Waupaca. 2 sons:
Michael (Ellen) Wanta, Rosholt and Mark (Sherry) Wanta, Rosholt. 2
Siblings: Virginia Kwiatkowski, Stevens point and Christine Nitka, Stevens
Point. 8 grandchildren: Christy, Kevin, Eddie, Jennifer, Robin, Amanda,
Mike Jr. and Cody. 14 great grandchildren, and 2 great great
grandchildren. Brother-in-law: Andrew Powalish, Chicago, IL.
Sister-in-law Alice Wanta, Milwaukee. He was preceded in death by his
parents, his wife Delores in 1994, 5 brothers, Ed, Raymond, Leonard,
Chester and Harry and 4 sisters, Jean, Valerie, Stella, & Delores.
The family wants to thank Heartland Hospice, Ministry Hospice, and
Willow Brooke Point Senior Living Center nurses and staff for their care
and compassion to Gus.
