Obituary for
Clifford R Freda
Clifford Raymond Freda, age 87, passed away on Sunday, January 14, 2018, at the Atrium Acute Care in Stevens Point, Wisconsin.
Clifford was born on September 13, 1930, in Carson, Wisconsin, to Raymond and Suzanne (Tork) Freda. He graduated in 1948 from Lane Tech High School in Chicago. Clifford married the love of his life, Nancy Ann Brady, on March 9, 1952. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1951, until honorably discharged as Lance Corporal in 1953. In 1957, he moved to Stevens Point with Nancy, their children, and his parents. By August of that year, the family business, Freda Sausage Company, was built and operational. There, Cliff was sausage maker for 37 years until he retired and closed the business in 1994. He was a member of the American Legion and Knights of Columbus.
Cliff was an avid sports fan, participating or watching any and all sports. He loved bowling, biking, golfing, boating and waterskiing. He lived on the river for 27 years, captain of his own pontoon boat, taking his married children and grandchildren to the sandbar for special outings. He called this, “The Life” and enjoyed every minute of it. We will miss him dearly, and cherish our wonderful memories of a loving husband, father, brother, grandfather and friend.
Clifford is survived by his wife, Nancy Ann Freda; his children: Mike (Carol) Freda; Pat (Brian) Arneson; and Amy (Dale) Felckowski; nine grandchildren: Scott Freda, Eric Freda, Karen Freda, Marissa Arneson, Megan Arneson, Brooke Felckowski, Katie (Dan) Drida, Nikki Felckowski, Jenny Felckowski; one great-grandson: Emmett Felckowski; two sisters, Rita Freda and Joan Lecher; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his son, Roger Freda, parents, Raymond and Suzanne, and stepfather George Grubba.
A Mass of Christian Burial for Clifford will be held Thursday, January 18, 2018, at 11:30 a.m. at St. Bronislava Catholic Church in Plover, Wisconsin. Rev. Edward Shuttleworth will officiate. Burial will be at St. Bronislava Catholic Cemetery.
