Obituary for Rudolph "Rudy" Drifka

Rudolph R. Drifka, age 84, passed away peacefully on March 15, 2018, with family by his side. He fought and succumbed to a long battle with Parkinson's disease.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00AM Thursday, March 22, 2018 at St. Adalbert's Church in Rosholt. Rev. Jeffrey Hennes will officiate. Friends and relatives will gather to share memories from 9-10:45AM on Thursday at church. Burial will be at the parish cemetery with full Military Honors.

Rudy was born on January 24, 1934 to the late Felix G. Drifka and Margaret Drifka (Herman). Rudy was drafted into the U.S. Army at the age of 22 and was stationed in Korea. He was honorably discharged. On October 13, 1962 Rudy married Lorraine Stencel.
Rudy worked for Howe Silo in Plover and later became a truck driver for Dahlman Truck Lines in Stevens Point where he was an active Teamster member. When Dahlman Truck Lines closed shop, he ended his career at Glodowski Trucking in Rosholt. Upon his retirement at 62, he and Lorraine enjoyed trips to Las Vegas, Branson, South Dakota and Eagle River.

Rudy is survived by his wife, Lorraine; his daughter, Sandra Drifka, and his son, Darrell Drifka. He is further survived by his brother, Eugene Drifka, and his sisters, Germaine, Arlene, Geraldine, Marie, and Candy.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and two sisters: Charlotte and Anna.

Rudy enjoyed life! He loved the outdoors, including fishing, gardening, and just sitting out on a lawn chair with a beer. He loved tinkering on the tractor and other machinery, and had many woodworking projects. Most of all, he loved his Boston terriers, Buddy and Skippy.

The family wishes to thank the Portage County Health Center and Ministry Hospice for all their care and support in making Rudy's last weeks comfortable.
