Obituary for David A. Peterson Jr.

David A. Peterson Jr.
David A. Peterson, Jr. of Rosholt (formerly of Stevens Point) passed away on Saturday August 4, 2018 after a long battle with cancer. David was born on December 9, 1957 in Monroe, WI, the son of David Sr. and M. Kathryn (Kauk) Peterson. He grew up in the Janesville area, and graduated in 1976 from Parkview High School in Orfordville, WI.
After high school, he worked as a mechanic for a few years before pursuing his passion of over-the-road truck driving. David drove truck for 26 years, with 16 of those years being self-employed. He drove for CKKC Enterprises, Stevens Point; Roadready Transfer Services (RTS), Wausau; and Advanced Drainage Systems (ADS), Mendota, IL. He loved exploring the country, putting on nearly 4 million miles during his career. While working for ADS, he was promoted to Yard Manager in April of 2008. In September of 2010, he accepted a job at Donaldson Filtration Solutions in Stevens Point, which brought him closer to his children.
In 2015, he met his soul-mate, Char Schulist. Together, David and Char spent lots of time outdoors. They loved to go camping, fishing, and traveling the countryside. They also loved to go out to eat at small, privately owned restaurants in out of the way places.
David was always tinkering with things, whether it was vehicles, things in and around the house, woodworking or creating new projects. He loved working with his hands and used his talent to make an important difference in the lives of others.
David was a hard-working man who fully dedicated himself to anything he did. He took pride in his work and would always see a project to completion. He wasn’t afraid to tackle any task and always was determined to find a solution. He was particularly known for his stories and his sense of humor. He could sit for hours and tell stories of his days in the semi. And his dedication to be a family man was very evident in how he always supported his children’s activities and attended their events.
David is survived by his fiancée, Char Schulist of Rosholt; his children, Kari Peterson (Josh Reinke) and Jacob Peterson of Stevens Point; step-children, Stacy (Lee) Gilmeister of Eland, and Amy (Andy) Netzel of Amherst; his siblings, Mareejo (Bob) Seidemann of Sussex, Karalyn (Keith) Simes of Milton, Janice Willger (Bob Neumann) of Janesville, and Allen (Nancy) Peterson of Edgerton; brother-in-law, Bob Johnson of Milton; as well as many nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents, David Sr. and M. Kathryn Peterson, his sister Leann Stluka (Johnson) and his grandparents.
A celebration of David's life will be held at Shuda Funeral Home, 3200 Stanley Street, Stevens Point, WI on Saturday August 11, 2018 from 10am to 12pm. A private family burial will take place at a later date.
In lieu of flowers a memorial will be established in Dave's name
