Monica Ann "Mamie" Lisiecki
Monica "Mamie" Lisiecki age 95, of Stevens Point passed away Thursday morning November 2, 2017 at Point Manor where she has resided the past two years.
Services for Mamie will be held at 11:30 AM on Monday November 6, 2017 at the Shuda Funeral Chapel - Stevens Point. Pastor Howard Hintzman will officiate. Burial next to her husband will be in the Guardian Angel Cemetery. Friends and family will gather to share memories from 10:00 AM until the time of services at Shuda's.
Mamie was born November 24, 1921 in the Town of Carson, the daughter of Ludwig and Anastasia (Baranowski) Flatoff. She married Vincent Lisiecki on October 29, 1938 at St. Peters Catholic Church, and the couple settled in Stevens Point.
In the early 1940's the couple purchased the Lisiecki family farm and land, in the town of Linwood. They lived and raised their family there for nearly 60 years until they moved to Fireside Apartments in 2003. Mamie had many skills, she worked as a seamstress , at Normington's for 5 years. Followed by 5 more years doing upholstering at Joerns Furniture Co. After leaving Joerns, she started her own upholstery business and operated that until her retirement. Mamie loved to travel, her favorite adventure was when she and a friend took the train to Edmonton Canada, to visit their husbands who were commissioned to lay electric and telephone lines alone the new Alaska Highway. During there 65 years of marriage Mamie and Vince traveled all over the USA, they even made it to Hawaii. She also enjoyed, cooking, baking, sewing, gardening (especially her flowers), and playing the harmonica and organ, which she could play by ear. She could still play her harmonica almost to the very end.
Mamie is survived by her children: Grace Kulas, Stevens Point; Rita DeGraff, Schofield; Antoinette "Toni" Shaw, Stevens Point; Eugene (Candice "Candy") Lisiecki, Stevens Point. 8 grandchildren: Karen (Greg) Kurtzweil, Kathy (Mark) Nuessmeier, Mike (Marla) Raflik, Mary (Coy) Sawyer, Eileen (Gary) Shew, Chris (Shawn) Raflik, Dan (Kathy) Lisiecki, Dianna Sonnenberg (Ray Dix). 16 great grandchildren and 6 great-great grandchildren. Her sister-in-law Frances Scipior, Stevens Point. She was preceded in death by her parents , her husband Vincent in 2003 and 10 brothers and sisters.
Mamie's family wishes to thank the staff at Point Manor, The Atrium, Ministry Hospice, and Linda and Pam from Inclussa for all their help and assistance.
