Obituary for Janice D. "Dinah" Moe (Greenleaf)

Janice Diane “Dinah” Greenleaf Moe, age 76 of Stevens Point passed away Monday May 7, 2018 at Care Partners Assisted Living where she has resided for the past 6 ½ years.

A Celebration of Life Service for Dinah will be held at 7:00 PM on Monday May 14, 2018 at the Community Church: 3516 Stanley St. Stevens Point. Friends and family will share memories from 5:00 PM on Monday until the time of service at the church. Shuda Funeral Service is assisting the family.

Dinah was born May 10, 1941 in Detroit, MI, the daughter of Fred and Mary (Hunt) Greenleaf. As a child her family moved many times as her father was a musician. After graduating high school Dinah worked at General Motors in Detroit. She married James Davis Moe on August 12, 1967 in Detroit. The couple moved to Stevens Point after Jim completed his doctorate at Wayne State to teach at UW Stevens Point. Dinah was an accomplished painter and watercolor artist, selling her works throughout Portage County. Dinah was passionate about Big Band music, as her father was a jazz musician. She was known to turn the volume way up and enjoy music that moved her. She was also known for her passion for nature. She painted nature whenever she could, always with a reverence for the creator. She was a valiant soul who suffered in this world. She never put on a fake personality for anyone. With Dinah what she was is what you got from her. She truly cared for her family and friends and gave them all the wonderful gift of “sincerity.” In a world where most people fake it, a true, genuine, sincere soul is a great gift. She stood up for what she knew was right in her heart even if people disliked her for it. That is true bravery. She is a strong willed, loving spirit. Her impact upon this world is in the realm of the things that matter in eternity. She will be remembered and missed.

Dinah is survived by her husband James, and their two sons: James David Moe and Jonathan Greenleaf Moe both of Stevens Point. Her grandchildren: Tahlia and Jace Moe, Stevens Point. Her sister: Susan Greenleaf, her nephew Jesse Greenleaf, and grand nephew Oliver Greenleaf, all of Oahu, Hawaii.
