Carl A. Stoltz
Carl Arthur Stoltz, 87, passed away with strength and courage on Sunday, October 28, 2018, surrounded by family after a long battle with cancer.
A Mass of Christian Burial for Carl will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, October 31, 2018 at St. Bronislava’s Catholic Church. Friends may call at the church from 10:00 AM until the time of service. Father Shuttleworth presiding. Friends and family may gather to share memories, Tuesday, October 30 from 5:00-7:00PM at Shuda Funeral Chapel - Stevens Point, 3200 Stanley Street, Stevens Point. A private burial for the family will be held at a later date. Shuda Funeral Service is assisting the family.
Carl was born in Stevens Point, WI September 12, 1931, the son of Anton and Tecla (Trzebiatowski) Stoltz. He attended the University charter school, St Stanislaus School and graduated from PJ Jacobs High School in 1949. He played football, basketball and baseball. He loved baseball most. He joined the US Navy at age 17 and was a pitcher for the U.S. Navy baseball team.

Carl returned home and married Beverly Hansen on November 26, 1953 at St. Joseph's Church in Oshkosh, Wisconsin. They had six children Rick (Patti) Stoltz, Nekoosa WI, Sue Olds and Carla (Paul) Alm of Plover WI, Jeff (Kris) Stoltz, Betsy Klasinski and Kerry (Peter) Klismith of Stevens Point WI. He loved all of his grandchildren Jenn Stoltz, Becky (Paul) Smith, Clinton Carl (Penny) Stoltz, Brian Olds, Amy (Brian) Roth, Lacy (Seth) Milkey, Cody Alm, Sara (Brett) Ponejolic, Tyler Klasinski, Nicholas, Andrew (Hannah) and Hope Klismith. His great- grandchildren, Brayden, Jaxxon, Scarlett, Hoyt, Ivy, Chloe, Preston, Phoenix, Stefan, Isla, Brian, Brett, Kacie, Bowen, Brody Carl, Adelyn, Sophie, and Ila, brought him great joy.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister, Constance Jackanich, as well as many beloved aunts and uncles.

Carl worked for the Green Bay and Western Railroad, as a part-time Portage County Sheriff Deputy, a Stevens Point postal worker and had a long career as a rural mail carrier for the Amherst Post Office. In his spare time he raised hereford beef cattle and various other farm animals. He loved dogs, especially German Shepherds and English bulldogs, especially his girl, Mabel. He loved horses and shared that love with his daughter and a granddaughter.

Carl loved watching the Green Bay Packers, the Milwaukee Brewers and Bucks, and Badger football and basketball. His favorite activity was watching his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren play sports, and didn't miss concerts, plays or other school events.

He was a devoted and loving husband. As a father, he was "a rock", strong, protective, a man with a gentle heart and selfless soul. He was known for saying "maybe I'll see you sometime" and whether you were going down the road or across country, he always said "be careful".

Any person lucky to have had Carl in their life knew that he would give you the shirt off his back, drop everything to help anyone, and give you his last penny. He was incredibly kind and well-mannered and his caregivers would remark that he was a very sweet, kind man.

The family would like to thank the Veteran's Administration in Tomah and Wisconsin Rapids, Dr. Onitillo and Dr. Lillis and their exceptional staff at Marshfield Cancer Center, Sarah Schmidt, a kind, compassionate caregiver, the amazing staff at Portage County Heathcare Center Rehab, and the wonderful Ascension ICU staff, Dr. Raina and RNs, Diane and Molly.
