Obituary

David Darrel Shurbert, 58, passed away on April 18, 2019, at home in Plover, WI succumbing to an over matched battle with small cell lung cancer.

Born on July 24, 1960 in Eau Claire, WI, the son on Richard E. and Grace Shurbert. He attended local schools and worked various jobs in the Stevens Point area leading to an occupation in the hospitality industry. Greater opportunities took him to Houston, TX, where he lived for more than 10 years before disability and family ties had him returning to Plover.

Dave was a horticulturist at heart, having a gift with the greens, but fishing on the Wisconsin River was his passion. Quiet, with a wonderful sense of humor and sly smile, Dave was the wingman for his family and friends. A trusted companion, house sitter, child caretaker, camp attendant, and handyman, he would be there when called upon. Quiet as the fog Dave would roll in to family gatherings, now he has quietly rolled out. He must 'have things to do'.

He is survived by his mother Grace Shurbert, Stevens Point, WI, sisters, Tammee Peters, Houston, TX, and Cindi Shurbert (Don) Hetzel, Stevens Point, WI, brothers, Gary (Karen) Shurbert and Rich Shurbert, Plover, WI, William (Tina) Shurbert, Santa Cruz, CA, and Ron (Rhonda) Shurbert Stevens Point, WI.

Preceded in death by his father Richard E. Shurbert.

A gathering of family and friends will take place on Thursday April 25, 2019 from 4-6 pm at Shuda Funeral Home 3200 Stanley Home Stevens Point, WI.

" Shube " and I, where really close friends in our teens and twenties. We fished, bird hunted, camped, and enjoyed a whole lot of scenic overlooks, parks and outdoor adventures all over Wi. I have a photo album full of those memories. Dave, I hope you find peace at the big fishin' hole in the sky. Your friend, Kevin Ksionsk, Seymour, Wi.
