Obituary for Thadeus C. Mientke Jr.

Thadeus "Ted" Mientke Jr., age 85, of Bevent passed away on Tuesday, May 11, 2021 at Maple Ridge of Plover where he resided for 2 and a half years.

A Zoom memorial service will be held on Sunday, May 23, 2021. A private family burial at Peaceful Rest Cemetery in Bevent, WI was held.

Ted was born on January 10, 1936 in Guenther, WI, the son of Thadeus C. Mientke Sr. and Regina (Krukowski) Mientke. He attended local schools. On December 10, 1955 Ted married Tillie Koeffler. Together they lived in Madison, Knowlton, Wausau, and Bevent. They served together as Jehovah's Witnesses. Teddy enjoyed reading the Bible. Teddy also had a love for all things John Deere. He loved his winter trips to Alabama and made many friends down south. He enjoyed going to flea markets with Michelle, his daughter. They spent numerous hours shelling pecans.

Ted learned how to do electrical work, stone cutting, and also construction. Teddy worked for Wausau Homes for many years but always had time to help family and friends with their building projects.

Ted loved, loved, loved his sweets and desserts. His top five were: chocolate, chocolate, chocolate, Tillie's apple pies, and cottage cheese torte. He also loved deer hunting despite the fact he wasn't very successful. Ted also enjoyed watching old movies, not on TV or in theaters like most poeople but on VHS. Yes, you read that correctly, VHS!. Finally, Ted loved to travel. He took numerous trips to New York and Tennessee. He was able to enjoy a Cruise to Cozumel on their 53rd Anniversary with his wife, 2 daughters and 2 granddaughters. He also visited Alaska with his 2 daughters and 2 grandchildren.

Ted is survived by his 6 Children: Johanna (Paul) Putt, Hixson, TN; Joshua (Barbara) Mientke, Otego, NY; Rachel (Joseph) Kowal, Stevens Point, WI; Roger (Tammy) Mientke, Tomahawk, WI; Michelle Haase, Albertville, AL; and Loriann (Nathan) Zoch, North Fond du Lac, WI; 2 sisters: Beatrice Mientke, Wittenberg, WI; and Gladys Huehn, Cameron, WI; 2 brothers: William (Sarah) Mientke, Mosinee, WI; and Ronald (Peggy) Mientke, Jonesboro, AR; 14 grandchildren: Matthew (Becky), Brad (Jacqui), Mitchell (Amy) and Clayton (Jessica) Putt, Joe (Lauren), Jeremiah (Nikki), and Jonathan (Crystal) Kowal, Jessica (Mike) Shevy, Ryan (Beth) Mientke, Leah (Travis) Eswein, Ben (Rachel), and Thomas (Jordan) Haase, Miranda (Mike) Lindala, and Gideon Zoch. and 13 great-grandchildren: Gibson, Shelby, Bellamy, James, and Vincent Putt, Gibson, Hayden, Reese, and Jillian Kowal, Gavin and Avery Eswein, Kaydance and Reegan Mientke.

He was preceded in death by his wife Tillie, parents, infant brother Robert, infant Son Mark, and granddaughter-in-law.

The family wishes to thank the staff at Maple Ridge, in particular Jamie, for the care shown to our dad and to Ascension at Home Hospice. Also, thanks to all those who share our grief and also our hope. - "All those in the memorial tombs will hear my voice and come out."
