Obituary for Maynard Christensen

The soul of Maynard Christensen entered eternal life on Tuesday morning May 3rd.
He was the oldest of 4 children born to Jim and Evangeline Christensen. He was baptized and confirmed at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Winneconne where he grew up.
At an early age Maynard’s father introduced him to the woods, lakes, marshes, and streams of Wisconsin. He developed a lifelong love of nature and had a special place in his heart for Lake Poygan. He often had his black lab by his side. He was an avid hunter and trapper who later left his gun at home and instead took his camera. In 1964 Maynard graduated from Winneconne High School. He served in the Army Reserve during the Vietnam era.
Maynard married Arlene Smith in 1993. Together they built their dream house in the woods near Plover. They kept an immaculate garden and grew countless flowers. In spite of Arlene’s long illness, they worked together in his workshop turning out beautiful furniture made from Wisconsin woods. They traveled some and enjoyed life.
Maynard is survived by his children: Case and Natalie Christensen and his grandchildren Calvin and Graham. Beau and Ashley Christensen and his grandchildren Aaliyah and Klaus. Wendi and George Tucker and his grandson Evan. Steve Smith (Dori) and his grandchildren Tristen and Nikkitah.
He is survived by his sisters Becky Doro (Cliff), Maureen Sturm (the late James Sturm) and Victoria Christensen (Canny).
A special thank you to Arlene’s sisters, Cindy and Darlene, who helped Maynard out so much this past year.
A funeral service for Maynard will be held graveside at St. Patricks Lanark Cemetery, Hwy 54, Almond, WI 54909 on Friday May 20th at 1:00 pm.
